Personality: At first impression, Arthur came across as a spoiled, arrogant, self-serving bully. He was always more brawn than brains, and appeared to look down on those who were of lower status of him. And seeing that at the time he was the Prince of Camelot, that was almost everyone. He was something of a bully, very aware of his own talents, and really just a bit of an idiot. He still has his moments when he can be fairly dense or arrogant, and can come across as quite mean, but since meeting Merlin it cannot be denied that Arthur – now the King of Camelot - has improved considerably. These days he’s generally a lot nicer, although perhaps still a little narcissistic.

Arthur is the kind of person who inspires loyalty in others without really trying, both in the higher and lower classes. This is partly due to the fact that he’d never ask anyone to do something he wouldn’t do himself, and to the great loyalty he himself is capable of - lengths he will go to help people. This ability, alongside his natural talents leadership abilities, mean he’s on the way to being a very great King. But Arthur is still young, and hasn’t been crowned a year, and he’s still settling into his new role as monarch. There are times when he feels daunted and doubts his own judgement, although he hates to show it. He’s getting better at looking to those closer to him for support, although he still very much feels he should be able to do this all on his own.

Arthur’s great driving factor – greater, to some extent, than any of his personal relationships – is his love and loyalty to his Kingdom. He’s very aware of his responsibilities, and will take any failure to do his best for them very hard. Arthur really wants to be the King everyone expects him to be, and this can cause him to be manipulated if he is led to believe certain things are expected.

He’s a very brave man and willing to take great risks, putting his own life on the line more than once to save other people. Arthur is talented at hiding his real feelings, but is a lot kinder and more caring than he puts across. He’s not entirely comfortable with expressing his feelings.

Arthur was raised to hate magic, although he never held quite the same loathing at his Father. However, after his father’s recent death was caused by magic, Arthur’s opinion on the topic has become much stronger, and currently does not look like it might change any time soon.

Canon Puncturable:: Legend: Yes. Series: No.
Special Abilities/Skills: Arthur’s most obvious talents lie in the field of combat. He’s been trained in most weapons since almost before he was able to pick them up, although his core strengths lie in the sword and mace. He’s also talented with a lance, crossbow, bow and arrow and axe, as well as in hand to hand combat. He’s an expert rider and a natural leader.
    Character History: WIKI

Writing/RP Example: Everything always felt very still the moment before it all started, but the time leading up to that moment never seemed to show that respect to his nerves. Arthur stood alone at the edge of the circle, his sword braced against the dirt floor, the metal cold against his palm as he waited for the crowds to assemble. People had told him he shouldn’t be doing things like this now. Not now his Father was gone and him on the throne was the only hold they had to keep Morgana away. But he could never had asked anyone else to do it, and so here he was, waiting.

His eyes drifted over the people filing into their places, watching their overexcited chatter, the way they laughed and discussed the fight he was about to take part in. He searched for Guinevere’s face amongst the sea of people but didn’t find her, and fought back a wave of disappointment. Instead his gaze kept moving, to the empty seat set in the centre of the royal platform. His Father sat there. Should still be sat there. Now it was empty because the king was stood here, clutching a sword on the edge of the combat ring. And all because of magic.

His determination suddenly strengthening, Arthur straightened his spine and pulled his broad shoulders back. He stepped back from the edge and turned back towards the tent, where the flap was still open from where he’d stepped out to watch the crowd. Ducking back inside the canopy of crimson canvas, Arthur rolled his eyes and nudged his elbow gently against his manservant’s ribs.

“Hurry up, Merlin! Some people actually want to see me out there, you know, as hard as it might be for you to get your thick head around.”
